Founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were students at Stanford University, Google is an American multinational technology company which specializes in Internet-related services. Google corporate offices (otherwise known as Googleplex) are headquartered in Mountain View, California. Googleplex is the combination of the words Google and complex – in this case meaning a complex of buildings – which illustrates that this building is the Mecca and originator of new ideas. Originally starting Google as a research project in January 1996, Page and Brin came up with the PageRank system.

While other search engines ranked results purely by counting how many times the search term appeared on the page, Page and Brin added more complexity to this algorithm by theorizing about a system which would analyze the relationship among websites. After registering the domain name for Google in 1997, the company launched on September 4th, 1998 and was initially based in the garage of a friend.

This worldwide brand now employs over 14,000 people worldwide. With its mission statement being to “organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful,” Google is constantly looking to improve experiences for their new and loyal customers.

Google corporate offices are described as a high-energy and fast-paced work environment. With employees describing the dress code as casual, the brightest minds walk in and out of the Googleplex every single day. With so much at stake as soon as employees enter their workstations, Google corporate offices encourage a work hard and play hard attitude. Google corporate offices feature workout facilities, a well-stocked snack room, and a cafe.

On Google’s website, they have even published an article about the top 10 reasons to work at Google corporate offices around the world. Some of these reasons include the way the company shows appreciation to their employees by creating a fun work environment, that they offer employees a variety of benefits (such as medical programs and maternity and paternity leave), working at a company that is actively changing the world, being around some of the smartest people in their field, and free and healthy lunch every single day.

With a home-away-from-home feeling, the company culture at Google cultivates and sustains brilliant minds by allowing them to blow off steam when needed.

Because Google is so spread out and far-reaching, they constantly have dozens of job openings in the areas of IT, engineering, and operations. On their website, Google does a great job of separating the jobs by division. For example, someone who is interested in joining the marketing team could easily go to the careers page and click on the marketing tab to find new job openings all over the world.

For those looking to become a software engineer, this company is constantly looking for new blood.  If you’re worried that you may not be educated or experienced enough for a job at Google, on their careers page (on the left-hand side) a person is able to filter out for jobs that align with their degree, skills, and preferred location.

Posting their status as an equal opportunity employer, Google actively seeks to make their workplace incredibly diverse and wants people from all walks of life to apply.

Pretty much every worker at Google has a base salary that is surprisingly lower on the spectrum for similar jobs within other companies. Their base salaries are normally supplemented by stock options and extensive benefits. With the typical vacation and holidays, Google also gives its employees flexible work hours. For those who are not drivers, Google also offers its employees a free shuttle service to San Francisco, East Bay, and certain locations in the South Bay Area.

Due to the size of Google, it provides employees with great benefits when it comes to health and welfare. Google is known for providing healthcare for employees and their families. Plus, the Google corporate offices complex has an on-site physician and dental care. Though not specific, this company also offers its employees discounts and for individuals or couples wanting to adopt, Google also has adoption assistance programs.

Google Corporate Office Headquarters Information

Google Corporate Office Headquarters Information

Located in Mountain View, California, Google corporate offices is the hub where all brilliant ideas at Google come to fruition. Beginning in 2003, Google leased a building that was previously occupied by a company called Silicon Graphics. After a year of the interior redesigns (which were performed by Clive Wilkinson), Google purchased some of Silicon Graphics’ properties for an estimated $319 million.

Since 2007, the Google complex has featured a series of solar panels which cover the rooftops of eight of their buildings. With so much solar energy, these panels are capable of producing 1.6 megawatts of electricity.

In July 2008, four 100kW Bloom Energy servers were shipped to Google, which actually made Google the first customer of Bloom Energy. Once inside the Google corporate offices, the interior of the headquarters is furnished with giant rubber balls and brightly lit shade lamps. The lobby contains a grand piano and a projection of live Google search inquiries.

For parents with small children, Google has a child care center that is about 5 minutes from the headquarters in Mountain View. In California, Google also has a system known as “backup childcare.” This essentially means that Google has a facility for children to stay if the regularly scheduled childcare person does not show up or plans fall through. As part of their maternity and paternity leave, new mothers and fathers can expense up to $500 for takeout meals during the first 4 weeks they are home to take care of their new child.

Though some may find this trivial, the headquarters also feature an on-site dry cleaning plus a coin-free laundry room. So for employees who hate having to go to the bank or a grocery store to get change, they can bring dirty clothing to work whenever they want. On top of that, Google corporate offices have two small swimming pools, multiple sand volleyball courts, and 18 different cafeterias – all with diverse menus.

Conclusion

As one can see, Google has created its own little world. With some of the world’s most talented and intelligent minds working towards the goal of making information accessible and usable, this company continues to strive for excellence. In particular, Google corporate offices have created a safe space for employees to feel at home even under the most stressful of times. At Google corporate offices, employees are encouraged to work on projects that interest them, as long as they also finish their assigned projects.

With a new discovery in the world of science, politics, and literature seemingly happening every single day, the need to find information as quickly as possible continues to rise. At Google corporate offices and their international branches, they continue adding new applications and services that will satisfy their millions upon millions of users.
